Puttin all 3 into my DK2, what i wanna know is do i want bridge or neck hot rails on my center single position.

I would use a neck hot rails, but do you know that you are going to have to have more then one volume pot since the pots those pickups use aren't the same? Active/Passive don't mix so well. -
You can mix actives and passives, but it's a project and adds a lot of complexity to the build._________________________________________________

You want the neck Hot Rails, however, I think you'd be better with a Cool Rails, or even a Vintage Rails in the middle. What's the point in two Hot Rails so close together in the same guitar? I replaced the middle Hot Rails in my SL3 with an SSL-1 and it's a much better guitar for it IMO.
I had a DK2 with the stock Duncan Designed single coils and an EMG 81 bridge. The wiring didn't look complex, in fact it just looked normal. I have no idea how it was done, neither did the guy I bought it from, neither did the guys on the Duncan forum. But it sounded great!Comment

The problem arises when you try to use a 500K pot with the actives, which only need a 25K pot. The passives will sound right with the 500K pot, but the active won't.
By using a 25K pot, the active will sound right, but the passives won't.
Unless each pickup type has its own volume pot, and the pickups are run to the pots before the switch, you're going to have trouble.I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

I believe you can essentially convert a passive pickup to an active one with one of these:

Then you can run everything to the 25K pots. That is one way to mix the two types. Note that I haven't actually tried this.

Wow thanks for the help everyone. This is where i'm really confused. I thought the DK2 standard has all active pickups, and changing them wouldn't matter, i also thought the blackouts were active. I'm sorry i'm new to the electronic side of guitar playing i've always left this for someone else. Martin you asked why i'd want two hotrails next to each other, i guess because i love the tone of them, i can't see any reason why not to. Teach me why i'm wrong haha. I've heard good things about both hot rails and blackouts, if you can't combine them what would you recommend i do? Either way ill be having them installed by a luthier.Comment
