  • Cracked Floyd Rose Collar

    Hey guys,

Just had the collar for the tremolo bar crack on an Original Floyd Rose. I have another OFR kicking around that I can swap in if needs be but I was wondering how much hassle it is to change the collar on a Floyd Rose. I unscrewed the Allen bolt on it but couldn't see how the collar itself comes away from the baseplate.

Here's a picture to show you the damage:

I'm not quite sure how it could have happened. I've been using Floyd Rose-equipped guitars for about eight years and never seen anything like it! Compared to other Floyds I have, this one has a couple of issues actually - the Allen bolt on the low E saddle has seized up too.

    Cheers,

    Iain

Easy as pie. Buy a new bar for $12 and it takes 5 minutes to swap. You don't even need to take the trem off - leave the strings on. Just take the backplate off, insert allen wrench, turn. Repeat in reverse to put the new one on.
