Anyone ever try a Lace Alumitone PU for metal or hard rock? How's the sound?

I've got an Alumitone humbucker in an Ibanez Sz320 (rhythm position). It's a good pickup, but you gotta make sure you use 250K pots with it, as using 500Ks will make it sound too dark and muddy. It kinda sounds like an overdriven P-90 pickup in that it has a raw, midrangey kind of sound when you overdrive it.

The output isn't as high as you'd expect, though. In fact, I ended up pulling out one of the Alumitones and swapping in a SD Dimebucker instead as I needed the extra hotness.

If I find some proper 250K pots, i might try those Alumitones out again.
