It should still work fine like that, but you can buy a new bar with that assembly housing. I've never seen them sold separately.

Cool! Thanks Joe. Actually, I asked the salesperson the same question but she never got back to me.

Got one with a bar, Schaller brand for $11.00 dollars at local guitar shop last week.
I want to go out nice and peaceful in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming and hollering like the passengers in his car.

I think the threaded part is called a trem collet, didn't have time to try to find links for you. I figured with reasonable pricing on the arm and collet, you'd prolly be good!

ProRockGear.com has the socket listed separately, but they're out of stock:

                          http://www.prorockgear.com/tremoloarmhousingh.aspx

That's the only place I've ever seen them without a bar, and I'm wondering if they're just splitting up arm/socket sets or parting out whole trems. In a thread about loose trem bars awhile back, Zerberus (who used to work at Schaller) said that the way they are manufactured, they are supposed to stay together as a matched set in order to have the least amount of play.

That's a great find. Thanks man! Anyway, everyone interested in the guitar asks for a whammy and I think my 3 yr old has lost the only whammy bar I had. Buying as a set works for me.
