  • Veneer on a PS4

How thin is the veneer on a PS4 body? I just got one that I plan on refinishing. If it's really think then I think I'll go solid color (yellow or green). If it's not too thin and I can get the finish off without going thru the veneer, then maybe trans wine red or emerald green.

    Anyone have any idea?

I don't really know. But if I had to guess, I would say pretty fuggin thin.

      1/8" or less.

Some of them were photoflame, which literally means it's paper-thin.

Think a sheet of cheap paper.
That's how thick/thin the tops are.

None of them are anywhere near 1/8" thick.
        .0032" at best.

A good indicator is to simply look at the edges.

Its thicker than regular paper, say more like cardstock, like used in packaging new products to hang on store shelves. Very easy to sand thru, but not as thin as paper.

            key word being "paper"

if the grain doesn't move in the light, paint it a solid color.
