  • Painting question...

I was always under the impression...not sure if its correct or not...that repainting a guitar would kill tone? I "thought" that guitar paint must have some qualities that let the wood do its thing to produce tone...where as a can of Krylon will kill it.

    Right?
    Wrong?
    Insight?

What does repainting do that painting doesn't?

If this is the case, shouldn't there be a bunch of naked gitars?

Going to paint the Vandy pink, huh?

some schools of thought believe that poly on a guitar prevents the wood from breathing and deprives it of its tone. while i'm not a fan of super thick finishes, i've had plenty of poly finished guitars that sounded good to me.

        Dammit! The secret is out...

No...I have another project body I've been toying with. I was hoping more along the lines that there is a proper paint that should be used for guitars...I guess I was wrong...
