    Default What to do............?

so on Friday night I get surprised by both my co-workers and friends with a surprise 40th birthday party after work. My gift? a custom shop Jackson guitar. Well sort of.....they presented me an order form from Matt's Music Center so that I can pick what I want so they got it right.

so now here is my delema. If I could pick and choose any body style I wanted I would get the Phil Demmel King V. Trouble is Jackson will not do custom orders on this body style.

so as I see it I have two options.

#1 settle for my 2nd choice and go with the standard king V style and get that from the custom shop

#2 get myself a Phil Demmel off the shelf and have it customized myself

now my dream of always owning I Jackson custom shop guitar I can only get via option #1 but the one I really really want I can only get via option #2

so do I get the real custom shop guitar or do I get the Demmel and work it to my specs?

CMC Guitars got them to make this. I bet Matt could do the same.

They might have to contact Phil Demmel and get his approval. There was a run here done of black with white binding Mark Morton models, and I believe they had to get the okay from Mark. Same thing for Custom Phil Collen models.

Closest available model would be an extreme KV. They might do the demmel cutouts without approval if you went away from the other defining "demmelition" features such as bridge and paint too. Your best bet is to call Matt and talk to him about it. I believe he was the dealer on the Morton run so he will know the loops to jump through for a CS artist model.

Contact Matt, if not I'd personally go for an Extreme King V or what CMC guitars did.

I guess it is because they pay royalties to Demmel for selling his signature. I asked several dealers and they all told me the same thing. Maybe I will go with the Extreme V then??

and yes my friends and co-workers are the balls. Can't complain about that what-so-ever.

If the stock Demmel model has all the specs you want, grab one of those and then ship it off to either Dan Lawrence or Mike Learn for a custom paint job. If you want to tweak the specs then go with the custom KV. With an opportunity like this, get what you really want and don't settle. And like the others have said, great group of friends and co-workers!

What an fantastic problem to have! Seriously your year is starting off great. Try as hard as you can to get what you really want. I am sure Matt can figure out something, he works wonders!

You have the option for ANYTHING, but you you want a sig model? I'd give up a testicle for your dilemma! Get a custom thats just to good to be true, sell it and buy the sig you want, and then have a massive dinner/party for your friends!

Damn, wanna swap jobs? If there's a Demmel production model available, I don't see why Phil wouldn't approve it
