Heres the first song from my new solo project, the song is called A Beautiful Distraction. Its just the rough mix and no bass. Its a short instrumental written for the wife. Enjoy, or not.

What you could improve (what I hear through my speakers): clean ending doesn't blend well with the distorted tone. And distorted guitars sound away in the mix.

Cool, thanks for the insight. Its not done yet, I was just in a hurry to get some momentum started. Ill be getting a decked out Mac, an 8 channel analog mixer and a nice set of headphones here in a couple weeks, then I can really get the ball rolling. The distorted tones, well all the tones for that matter were recorded with a cheap ass USB mic waaaay off axis, just had it hangin there parallel to the speaker grill. The drums are sequenced. I hadnt eq'd the guitars at all, my speakers arent the greatest.

Nah, that was what I came up with when the wife kept pestering me to write her something. It will never have and was never intended to have lyrics. The main focus of the project will be if you threw Mudvaynes LD50, L.O.G., A.P.C., and my work with the Bionic Monks in a blender. As always though, though I do have a focus, and a direction I would like to go, Ill write what I write, and if it isnt just stomp your ass, in your face metal, then so be it.

Yeah, after I was done, I kept looking at that A and seeing Van Halen. Oh well, its just a space filler until I can come up with something better.

Yeah, its cool. I was kind of going for feeling without words, you know, kind of wussy. I dont think shed have gotten it had I written her a Slayer-esque tune. "What the fuck, dont you ever clean this place? Fuck it doesnt matter, just sit on my face!" Nah, shes a better house keeper than me. The phrase, "aww, fuck it" isnt in her house cleaning vocabulary.

Benoa, I kind of understood you comment about the guitars being in the back, so I decided to use the cab em. line out on my line6 head to do some testing. In comparison, it makes the guitars that were on the track first sound like theyre at the bottom of a well. Ill be adding the tracks using the em. line out to it but not shiit canning the originals.

In other news, Ive got drum tracks ready to go for the next song. It too is an instrumental, but it focuses on builds and mixing pieces of the main riff with parts of the secondary riff to create a different image all together later in the song. All the primary pieces are laid out in the beginning, then theres a build, then a reprise of the secondary riff, then they all come together orchestrated over top of each other for something completely different. Sorry for the run-on sentence.
