Default Newbie here with a question on ps-5 Performer and Concert EX Professional

Hi, I`ve looked but can`t seem to find where these are manufatured, Japan, Korea, India? I have a 3 MIJ Charvel basses and love the necks but the Jacksons just are not the same wide thin profile as the Charvels.

    well howdy pilgrim.....

anything that says pro is automatically from japan, and the ps5--well the bottom of the quality barrel like charvettes.
and what 3 basses do you have?

Hi, from reading posts it seems your the keeper of the cheese on charvel/jacksons. So the ps-5 is Korean or just poor quality? I hate the baseballbat neck on it but it was a deal and had active emg`s and a drop d tuner that made it worth getting. I have a gray metalflake toothpaste logo model 2 and a $20 p-bass body with a model 2 neck, a warmoth t bird body with the same neck on it and just bought a black model 1 I should get by Monday! I have a couple of Kramers also, seems pointy headstocks kinda flock together.

one of the guys here put a jackson neck on an epi body..that was a cool idea to kinda remind him of a TBX
and hell for a emg set and tuner that would cost 150-200 bucks ya it was probably worth it. i would never consider anything junk even from china, but ya charvette/performer = cheaper bridge, pickups not as hot as the old ones and a neck that dont feel like the old charvel flat-backs.

easily playable and never an issue, but I also hate the different necks on the mid-90's boltons. My Futura/CMG and TBX feels way different than my model2's - not better or worse, just different.

    Yup Japan For Sure!!

Charvels & Kramers like to hang together or at least they do around here..

I saw the jackiphone t bird, looks killer! I can get a epi dirt cheap local so thats on the to do list along with a explorer and telecaster charvel beasts, just need a couple more charvel wide flat necks. Thats part of why I`ll probably sell the 2 Jacksons to feed my Charvel habit. The performer had the bridge upgraded so they did replace the cheap bits and it came with a chainsaw case, seemed like a real deal.

How'd ya attach the same neck to two guitars? And where the hell did ya put the tuners? (j/k but couldn't resist)

Nice, I could make a evil twin of that one. I have the rosewood board version of that neck on my J bass and a very beat red 2b body setting around! The 1b shipped today so new toy next week!

Yep, ugly sparkly pickgaurd bass. So when did they quit making pointy headstock charvel basses?

youd get harassed if you showed that on TB to the FenderFools for the pickguard but that would be mild compared to the shit youd hear about a pointy neck ruining it blah blah blah.
jap import charvel sticker up to 88, toothpaste charvel sticker 89-92, charvette sticker 91-92 --thats it.
sandimas always fenderhead and the other ugly designs they had in the 90's CHS/CSM/JX/EL/GUMBYHEAD...lol
you like charvel AND jazzbody go find this one.

Mine has nothing Fender on it, nice 2 peice mystery j body for 40 bucks fully loaded with a badass bridge. I ignored it for a couple years till I got a box of Kramer bass thrown in with a amp deal. Twas not a premeditated thing but it worked out nice. I just put a solid black pickgaurd back on it, much better. It would be fun to post it on the TB and tell em its a 65 j bass body just to to hear the cries of outrage. Screw Fender necks, you can`t kill a vampire with a Fender!

thanks WRC, ya I saw that probably an hour after it was listed and is on my watch list. I already have one so it's not on my radar, but I will probably bid on it anyway at the end if nobody else is.

hey Pilgrim, now you gotta find a model 1 and swap necks

Ooops, a Black 1b was what I got just, # challenged I guess. I was gonna put the neck on a beater red 2b body but its a sloppy fit in that neck pocket so the 1b gets to stay original. I did find another Black 2b for cheap I may get this weekend.

What do you all think is a fair price for the Black ps-5 with the upgraded bridge & 18 volt EMG`s and the Blue Concert EX with a drop d tuner?
