Sharkfin Inlays on a 1980s USA neck?

I'm looking to buy this guitar that has a USA Charvel neck on it. I'm a bit suspicious of the decal though and the fact that the neck has sharkfin inlays. I've never seen a USA 80s Charvel with sharkfins but then again I haven't seen many USA 80s Charvels in the first place. I attached a picture of the neck. Thank in advance!

There were a few San Dimas Charvels with sharkies, but that JT-6 lock nut is a red flag that should have you going over the guitar very carefully. The JT-6 came out after they stopped making SD Charvels. Could be retro-fitted, or that could just be a re-painted Model 4 neck with a decal. Any pics of the whole guitar, preferably front & back (to see the belly cut, cavity shapes) or pics of the neck heel (markings) or back of the headstock showing the tuners (screw tab angle)? Does the neck have a poly finish or is it oiled?

That's a model 4 neck with a bootleg logo. The "Made in USA" under it is not supposed to be all caps.

Thanks. I thought it looked fishy, especially since the string clamp is the same as the one on my model 3a. The body is from a pro mod. The seller claims it is a "USA" pro mod although I realize no such thing exists.

That's a model 4 neck with a bootleg logo. The "Made in USA" under it is not supposed to be all caps.

Nice catch! I checked on some of my old pointy headstocks and your are right - not all caps.

While I have seen a few USA pointies with sharks and "maybe" the logo was replaced but I doubt it. Ask for a side shot of the headstock, it should have the black cap not painted black and a shot of the heel, mod 4 will have an indexing hole for machining on the end of the heel in the center.

Yeah, and the stringlock is upside down hence the 2 holes drilled for the trussrod cover. One for the correct notched cover and one for using it with no space for the notch. The grooves in the nut look a bit hairy as well

Another check I do is look at the join between the neck and headstock. The early SD pointies had the join much closer to the headstock, starting between the 1st and 2nd fret and ending behind the nut. They moved the join to around the 3rd or 4th fret later about the time they started the model series (including on the USA Jacksons).

I LISTED THE THING AS A MODEL NECK I didnt realize what number be it 475 or 4 or other. I swear to christ it takes someone effort to read the auctions doesnt it.

Also its a USA body from 08

It was my axe it said CHARVEL MODEL NECK in the auction specifically. Never hurts to ask the question directly when ya cant read. It also said it was a parts guitar and the sort.

FYI there are pointy USA necks with sharkies from that era, I have had 3 of them.

The nut was a machined deal and isnt worn though it does look strange it plays nicely. It sold on ebay for less than the price of the body, ofr and electronics. It was more than fair priced.

Yeah, nobody reads auctions anymore. I love it when you state specifically USA only In big letters) and sure enough someone from "abroad" hits the buy it now and then wants to know if you will mark it as a gift when it gets "posted". Oye, ebay sucks. Oh, and is that the neck from the body thats in the classifieds?

No that neck went on Jacksonluvr's flag body I believe but I am not certain.
