with regard to pup height, I always go with what the instructions say. check out the DiMarzio site for confirmation.

for bridge beight, I measure at the 17th fret. around 3/32" +/- on the low E and around 2/32" +/- on the high E. that might be on the higher side for some people, but it's what's always suited me and my style.

mine is a Feb 2010 PC-1. it was pre-owned and needed a good setup when I got it home, including some truss rod adjustments... but I feel a lot of the work I needed to do was because that way the previous guy had it set up. once I put some fresh 10s on there and let all the adjustments settle for a few days, it plays and sounds great.

another guy I know that's had one for a while considers it his "go-to" guitar.

Hm, this is really odd. These guitars def arent supposed to sound like youre describing, which makes me think something isnt right. When I got my PC1 used, the bridge pickup was plugged in backwards, and sounded aweful, very trebly, tinny and just all around crappy, just like youre describing. Open up the electronics cavity, unplug the bridge pickup, turn the connector 180* and plug it back in and see what happens.

IIRC most of the connections on the board are color coded no? That should make it easy to see if the bridge pup (or any other connection for that matter) is plugged wrong (ie.180 degrees)

Gotta give us a close up shot of that cavity to better help you!

Nope, no color coding, not even any marking on the PCB as far as what goes where. It would be a simple error on the assemblers part to be honest. When testing it, Im sure theyre mostly just checking that it works, not how good it sounds so its totally possible for this to have happenned.

I will do my best to get some pics uploaded guys,

Ok I messed about with the polarity to the bridge pup and what I found was when I reversed the polarity to the pick up, that the sustainer squeel switch was now operating the opposite way around, in that normally switch down to turn on the octave high mode, now it switched up to turn on. Also, either I'm going deaf or something, but I didn't hear too much tone change when I changed polarity, which is weird.

Thats wierd, when the polarity of my bridge pickup was reversed, the sustainer wouldnt work at all, and Ive got a rev C board as well. Yeah, get some pics if you can so we can make sure everything is wired up correctly.

if you haven't got it by now, send me a PM with your email addy. I have a PDF of the '08 wiring diagram that matches my '10 model that I'll be happy to send.

according to the diagram I have...... as far as which direction the jumpers go, you should be able to see an arrow in the connector that corresponds with one of the wires. as you look down into the cavity, looking down on the board with the bridge to your right side and the head to your left side... in all of the instances where those 4 connectors plug in along that far left edge, the arrow should go toward the top... as in, the side toward the battery compartment. of those 4 connectors, the very bottom connector is the bridge pup, the next up is the middle pup, the one on the top of those four is the sustainer.

the go-to guy on this really is 'rjohnstone'. but if you want the PDF, please allow me a day or so to get back to check my PMs. thanks!

Interesting they don't color code the connectors anymore.
Very helpful when doing a pickup swap or repair.

Here's what my Rev C board looks like.
You can see the colored marks on the connector and board.
