How to play "Iron Man" with a floating floyd:
Palm the saddles
Your welcome!
Actually I can't believe it took me 7 years (from when I switched from a Les Paul) to even try this but I got it

I took apart my floyd and made a mistake of delinting it, cleaning it thoroughly and oiling it. Its perfect in every way now and like new, only problem is one touch with my hand (My palms bulges out sideways a lot as they are builders hands with a load of callous) and it detunes.
Can hardly use threadlock on them.
Gad you cracked Ironman after seven years.
I know what you mean though

haha, o I, I used to play it all the time on the Les Paul, but when I switched to my JDR94s I just assumed I couldn't play it.
If anyones confused by what I meant, I meant the begging where you bend up the E note on the 5th string, with a floyd, the E on 6th string goes flat as the trem pulls up, but with a little practice you can rest your palm on the trem and react against the pull it to keep the low E steady.
Also, not that I invented this, for unison bends with a floyd, you can push up the "non bending" note a little to keep those in tune

Uuuuh the same way you play without a floyd.

If your getting a warping sound because your laying/setting your hand on the floyd.
Two things, although its stating the obvious.
Don't set or lay your hand so heavy down on the floyd bridge.
Do NOT apply any pressure... hence its just setting there.
Yes, this is something you will have to learn.
The more you play, you will get better with this.
If in a reasonable amount of time your still having problems - go back to playing your LP.Peace, Love and Happieness and all that stuff...

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

I meant the beginning part where you bend up the E note on the 5th string, while letting the low E drone.
When you bend the 5th string, the 5th string pulls on the trem a little, causing the E on the 6th string to go flat.
This happens if you dont touch the trem
My solution is palm the trem to conteract the the pull created by the fretting hand. It works and I thought I'd share it!
Is that clearer? (I am not good at articulating in print)

The style of bridge does definitely have an influence on your style of playing though. I say stick to one type as otherwise you just become another boring accomplished musician, rather than the sourcery of mystic noise.

Umm, you don't do the E on the 5th. You do the open E and bend behind the nut. On a FLoyded model, you hit the open E and pull the bar up.

What the hells all this noise about double stops and compound bends on FRs lately? Seriously, have we all just cumulatively reached that part where were doing that and finding it tedious? Just one day, bang, no one can do compound bends on their FRs.
Were moving into a new age my friends. Man has discovered how to perform double stops on a FR. Wars will be fought and kingdoms shall fall over the possession of this great knowledge. The FR will be equipped on scores of stringed instruments and no one shall be allowed to use the FRs name in vain. The greatest of axe wielders will make sacrifices to the gods in the form of compound bends and touch harmonics wiggled vigorously in the name of the FR. A new age my friends, a new glorious age. Many prayers of thanksgiving to those pioneers who stumbled upon this great new technique.HTTP 404 - Signature Not Found

when the world ends in 2012 (according to the mayans anyway) Floyd Rose bridges will take over. they will rule the world. the insects will try, but they will fail.

Are you sure? The weight of the insect will alter the orientation of the bridge, possibly introducing a ripple in the time space continuum. If the crack opens wide enough, the magnetism will suck the Floyd's in (only the German ones, I suspect; the knock offs might survive).

Lets hope this bug theory wouldnt happen. The rip in time would be equivalent to the weight of the bug. If the rip is only so big, it will start only sucking in tuneomatic bridges, stop tail pieces and the base plates of vtrems. This would leave the FR no political competition and lead to the rise of Beast. The speed loader FR. Goods and services could not be bought or sold with out the mark of the beast.
To ensure the rise of the beast is forever implemented, all insects greater in size than the bug that started new world order would be eradicated, thus not leaving the opportunity for the rip to be opened again and allow FRs to be sucked in but not Kahlers, which would then inherit the Earth.HTTP 404 - Signature Not Found
