Want to know a secret to making a bass like that more playable?

it's a CX490 and someone replaced the old headstock sticker with the old style cause you can buy em on ebay and other places -- perhaps after a repaint???

that is for sure a cx490, with the beak head and bridge to match. They made those from 92-93 "maybe 94".

The whole headstock would have had to be replaces then because it is not a sticker. The thing that gets me about it is the back neck plate. absolutely nothing on it. It has a sticker I can tell that was there on back of the headstock. as far as if it had ever been painted I know for sure it has not been. and i know it's not hot either nor was it an ebay buy. so tell me. did CX490's have any thing on the back neck plate?

It's funny but I have a CSM-1G with that style headstock and logo. I think someone told me that it was a Christmas Special edition or something from Sam Ash, Guitar Center or other major chain. The guitar version is made in Japan, decent quality for a low to mid-level axe but has terrible resale value. Not sure if that helped at all.

oh YA!!! the CSM series --duh ?!? CSM 2B and I dunno if SA was the sole dealer but yep a CSM. I always associate the beakheads with the CX series that came later and was sold at the dealers. As far as the plate goes, I never had one to tell you the serial was on the head or a sticker on the bare plate

same as the damn musicYo Kramers

I'm telling you someone repainted the head because here's a pic and it says CSM-2B on the tip:

also the JX series used that beakhead, here;s my black JX:

It's the glare in that pic - makes it look like a Fender head

a Fenderhead? -- "close" don't count!!!, and it don't take a glare from the light to see that i've had this JX for a while and I honestly think I played it 2 times. It just sits in the case as part of the collection because the neck is not the same as the model series and I just don't like it.

I liked the CHS heads a lot better
