  • Floyd Rose® Licensed Jackson® Low Profile JT580 LP Double Locking 2-Point Tremolo

    hi all,

i am currently hanging on a Jackson RR3 Pro Series with the above mentioned floating trem. i wonder if a Gotoh or Schaller trem can retrofit into the RR3's body?

    please advise.

    regards.

Although I'm not really sure the Jt580 is produced by Gotoh. The jt590 which was a widely used bridge on Jacksons in 80s and early 90s was made by Schaller. So yes a Schaller should fit fine with no modifications.

    Check Henrik's trem info project

An Original Floyd Rose will fit in a JT-580LP route just fine with no modifications required.
A Schaller would fit as well, but it might look strange with all that extra space behind it.

      Here's an OFR in a JT580LP route.

              That's an OFR in a JT580LP route.
Bolts are not hanging over anything.

I'm considering getting an OFR for my Model 4. I would like to have it routed out, but I would have to probably buy a new neck that's not tilted.
                My Main Rig:
                '87 Charvel Model 4A
                Peavey KB100 amp
                Ibanez SM7 Smashbox

                Others:
                '92 Gibson Les Paul Custom
                '05 Ibanez RG320FM
                '86 Ovation Pinnacle
                '98 Synsonics Custom Strat
                '89 Kramer 700ST Bass

okie.. i am contemplating an OFR cuz it is stable but relative unstable.. i am used to the ibanez offering of Edge trems, so its kinda weird for me to switch over.

I wouldn't recommend it... you have to buy specific floyd rose strings for it.

Whoah... Can you give me a link or something?

                            @Rjohnstone:
                            How stable is it?
Does it hold the tuning well?
How is it compared to the floyd rose that was one before?( I guess it was
                            an Takeuchi JT580LP 2point locking tremolo )

I like the Gotoh floyds which are the same as the ofr size wize except they come radiused fora 12in fretboard, and also have the longer sustain block....

It will still fit your RR3 but will need reradiusing, i find the gotohs to be as nearly as smooth as the EDGE trems...

Warmoth do sell OFR's quite cheap....
