  • NAD Sovtek MIG100H

1993 Sovtek MIG 100H. 100 watts of all tube goodness. Handwired. Single Channel. Master volume amp. No effects loop. Dial up the volume to around 8 and use the master for volume and if you closed your eyes you would swear you were playing a JCM800 2203.
    Perfect AC/DC gain.
The way I like to use the amp is with both the master volume and the regular volume on around 3. At this setting the amp is very clean and very Marshall Plexi sounding. I then throw a Fulltone OCD, an MXR Carbon Comp Bright analog delay, an EH LPB1 for solo boost and a Crybaby out in front. This set up gives me the ability to have a switchable clean channel, a nice analog delay, a boost pedal for solo boost and of course the Crybaby.
With this set up I can play any genre of music except for the seriously heavy death metal scooped stuff which I don't play anyway. This amp has way too much clarity and midrange to do death metal. Also.. with this set up I can get all the live features I need on a 1/2 stack that doesn't have an effects loop. I am running this head through a vintage Marshall 1960TV oversized slant 4 x 12 cab loaded with V30's.
Anyway... I have owned a few MIGS over the years. This is my first 100H. Its an excellent amp. Its absolutely a JCM800 2203 clone.
These amps used to be super inexpensive to buy used but over the years and since Sovtek stopped making them they have seriously increased in value. I can understand why.

very cool, i had a MIG50 back in the day. & yeah i couldn't agree more at the time i thought it was the poor mans marshall (@ that time i picked it up w a soviet 2X12 REAL CHEAP), very MKii JCM sounding, & took pedals well.

This MIG100H is a real beast. Jeez... is it powerful. If I was in an AC/DC tribute band and I couldn't afford a Plexi I would be using this amp. It absolutely nails that AC/DC tone. Just about every stomp box I have sounds great in front of it. If it had an effects loop it would almost be perfect.
