  • Looking for my old Dinky

Hey folks, curious if anyone could help me find my old Dinky I bought from Steve Blaze from Lillian Axe, it has a very intense Birdseye maple neck, eerie dess swirl paint, made in Ontario, serial number 1944. I had to sell, actually pawned it so i could try to get it back, years ago due to losing my job & my son needed medication, when I went to get it back it had been sold & I've been searching ever since. If anyone knows who may have it could you please ask that person to get in contact with me? This guitar has alot of sentimental value, my children's mother was pregnant when we went to Steve's place to pick it up & long story short I would like to leave this guitar to my daughter once I move on to the next life. I have a genetic disorder called Fabry's disease & some things are starting to happen internally, I'm not looking for sympathy or playing the boo hoo poor pitiful me game, just trying to explain why I'm looking very hard to find my old girl back. Yeah I loved that guitar, but my biggest reason I want it back so bad is to give it to my little girl. Thanks to anyone & everyone who takes the time out to read this & any help anyone can provide. Stay rockin you Axe shredders. Rocker8090-Tray

Did you pawn it in Jackson, MS?

I've never seen it, but you might want to put up WTB craigslist ads in that local area.

Also try some other forums like TGP.

    Good luck.

Hey Bro, I am sorry for your health issues. I totally understand and no one here will think your are trying the pity party game.
I would love to help you, but if you could give us a little more info, that would give us the bigger picture. Where are you located?
What pawn shop? How may years have gone by since you had it? Stuff like that. I will dig as hard as I can. I am disabled myself
and have time to hunt this thing for you. Good Luck, I'll do my best for your little girl and you.

Oh yeah, I also just realized. Another place to go and share you story, is on Facebook. Just search JcfOnline, the FB version of this site
has WAY more activity and people there, that might be able to help you out.

Hey Bro, I actually found a guy who bought it & he traded it in at Thoroughbred Music in Tampa on another guitar. I posted it on the JCF facebook page a while back & posted it again there recently. I pawned it at DJ's Silvermine here in Jackson, Ms & I'm still here in Jackson, Ms. I found a picture on the internet with Bobby D playing it so I contacted him & we've corresponded about it. He's the one who traded it in at Thoroughbred Music in Tampa. It's been about 7-8 years since I pawned it, but like I said, it made it's way to Tampa by Bobby. I haven't contacted Thoroughbred Music yet because I just found that info out a few days ago & it's been some years when he traded it in. Man any & all help would be so greatly appreciated. It really sucks looking like I'm totally fine on the outside but all this crap has started taking it's toll within the last few years & has made me slow down tremendously & for me that's hard for me to accept because I'm one of those old Army guys, keep going & fighting through everything until your down, then when your down, keep on fighting until your last breath, so that's what I do. Keep on fighting it bro & I'm not going down w/out a fight, just to give ya a lil info, I had a rare thing happen 6 years ago, I had seratonin syndrome which is where your body dumps all it's seratonin at once, it was triggered by the medications one doctor put me on, & it almost killed me, lost all muscular mobility, internal organs started shutting down, couldn't walk & was put in a wheelchair, so one day I was in that wheelchair & told myself, I'm not fixing to die, it's not my time yet so little by little I fought back & moved around on my own as much as I could day by day & finally started working that seratonin out of my system & made it to a walker, then a walking cane & now I'm back up to where I was before any of that hit & my main doctor couldn't believe it, because she thought I was about to go to that next life, she still can't believe it & calls me her special patient because of fighting back. Just wanted to give you a little info on me. Bro I really appreciate anything you find out because like I said it really holds alot of sentimental value & I want this to go to my daughter. So thank you, very much. If JCF online still has the photos up, there should be a few pics of it under my name because I used to see it years ago right after I submitted them, I also have some up on the JCF facebook page too

Like I said, I will have some time this weekend and with the info you have provided, I will give it a serious whirl. Don't EVER give up, it sucks losing your mobility I know for sure, but you just have to keep going. Especially if you have little one's. I will be in touch if I can do anything for you. Sorry it took me so long to get back, I have been dealing with Dr./health CRAP. I am back in now so hopefully I can find out something for you. Happy Memorial Day brother, hang in there! I am still trying to get my first USA Jackson at 43, so we will fight together, lol. Cheers for now.

Dude, some sad news for you. Thoroughbred Music has been closed since 1994-1995 (maybe a bit later, 96-98?, anyway they are LONG gone). Sam Ash bought them and converted all three locations to Sam Ash stores. The owner of Thoroughbred bought Dean and that's what they're doing now. Sam Ash turns over their stock QUICK. The Clearwater store (most local to me) never has vintage USA Jacksons. When they buy them in, they send them to NYC. Rarely they will have a current used USA Select, but priced WAY too high - usually they sit until they send them to NYC.

It may have taken 20 years, but I finally got a lead on a possible name of the guy who's guitar I have. Lol
All it took was some billionaire to die, leaving money to a whore that he didn't know died a year earlier, to start up a court investigation for next of kin, for me to read through a hundred pages of crap to come across a name on a hotel registry.

                  Hey, it's a start.

Hey I thought I would ask for more detail. Did it have a Schaller Floyd or Real Floyd? Was the swirl reverse or anything? Is it similar to the one in this post,(http://www.jcfonline.com/threads/600...lease!!!/page2) ? I have been looking and there isn't that many USA EDS's out there, so that helps a ton. I am trying.

Hey Bro - it's Bobby D, and I owned that guitar for about 6 months. It was a bolt on Dinky in Eerie Dess Swirl, but the outstanding thing about that guitar was the KILLER birdseye maple neck it had, with EBONY sharkfin inlays. it was a really thin D profile neck, but felt and played great.

I traded it in to Thoroughbred Music, and it's hard to figure where it went from there. But.....there were VERY few guitars made with that maple birdseye neck & ebony sharkfins. I have a photo of that guitar in my archives, but those boxes are locked up in humidity controlled storage in Florida and I am currently in Chicago...

Still searching, hopefully I'll be able to find my old girl. I'm not giving up until I do, may take me some time to find her but I'm not giving up.

I will keep my eyes open for it too.....it has the most amazing birdseye maple neck I have ever seen. I figured they picked out a really CHOICE piece of maple for Stevie Blaze.....and I loved the ebony sharkfin inlays. It was one of the nicest Dinkys I have ever seen.
