Firebirds were available as custom orders right up to when FMIC bought the brand in 2002. There was also a production import model (FB2) for a couple of years but it was kind of odd looking IMO.

They made a couple of Firebirds for the NAMM show this year, but they won't accept orders for them (don't get me started on how stupid it is to build something for a trade expo to show the world what your company can do, only to tell customers they can't order them). The reason Jackson Firebirds are rare is when people could order them, they didn't. Now they're unobtainable, the market becomes interested..

My theory is they floated the idea of the inverted Firebird to see what Gibson's reaction would be.

Well a test of water to what precursor may be? Gibson jolly know its an inverted.... Well the inverted may look sweet but I have no idea how easy would it access on the upper frets...

I looked around and found the firebird was actually in production during 95 era....

I know it is unlikely, but if Jackson were to release a rev f bird, I may have to put off buying the USA Kelly sitting in my local shop. Something tells me I should just buy the kelly though and not hold my breath.

Side note and slightly off topic, but does anyone have any information on the firebird Marty Friedman is seen with in a couple of pictures?

Marty had a black Japanese Grover Jackson firebird with the single coils removed.

Yep - and I'm breaking out of my nearly year long slump and playing almost everyday. Can't get enough of Warren D lately and I'm working on nothing but Ratt tunes
