Congratz! Love the Classic serie! And just boost it with a tube screamer if you want more gain!

Yes... I have a Maxon OD808 just for that job. One trick I learned and it sounds KILLER... is to go GUITAR-OD808-Big Muff PI-amp input. Set the amp for a decent amount of gain, set the OD808 to a minimal amount of gain and the output about 1/2 up and set the Big Muff with a min amount of sustain and the level set to match the level of the OD808. What this trick rig does is the OD808 kicks the preamp tubes in the teeth but it also makes the amp a little bright and a little too clear and the Bog Muff softens it up and adds more distortion to the signal. Its an awesome combination

I have been comparing all my amps this week deciding on which one to use for the show tomorrow night. This band isn't my 80's arena rock metal band. This band does everything from Ted Nugent to Stone Temple Pilots to old Aerosmith to Ozzy to contemporary pop songs played in a hard rock style. I decided to leave the Rivera home for this gig. Its the amp I use for small to moderate size gigs. I use a Metaltronix M1000 for large shows (over 500 people or outdoor). I am going to use this Classic 30 head, a Crate straight 4 x 12 loaded with Celestions, a Line 6 Echo Park delay in the loop for a few songs, a LPB1 in the loop for solo boost and a Morley switchless optical wah out in front. A very simple rig. I really like the way the Classic 30 head sounds. Very organic and crunchy. Sounds ALOT like a Marshall Silver Jubilee to my ears and the clean channel is outstanding.

I forgot to update! I used the amp for the gig. Even the sound guy complimented on how great the amp sounds. I had a lot of fun all night long with nothing but great classic rock tone. With that said... I am trading it off tonight. I haven't used it since the show and I have an offer for a trade for an Orange Tiny Terror combo. Its the 1 x 12 combo. I never heard one in person but from what I have read and heard its one heck of an amp. I think it might be perfect for band rehearsal and home jamming along with all my other amps. Also... from what I read.. Orange distortion isn't like any other. Its kind of like Vox and Fender. Very open sounding.
Anyway... 3 knobs, an input, power and standby switches and a 7w/15w switch. That's it. I guess I can figure it out!
I am trading my Classic 30 head, leather cover for it, a Morley Optical Switchless Wah that I hate and a Big Muff PI with tone Wicker pedal that I can't figure out how I can ever use it unless I start playing songs with fuzz guitar in them. I think its a good deal.

John I have a dark terror and just got a thunderverb. You will love the tiny terror. My only complaint about the tiny is that it doesn't have an effects loop.

I know. It also doesn't have an external speaker out jack. I read that the reason for no effects loop has something to do with the circuit configuration and that if one was added it would muddy up the signal. My goals with this new amp are 2 fold. #1. I am looking forward to playing with a different tone. #2. I am happy to have something that is truly portable with a 12" speaker. I have found that 15 watts is more than enough for rehearsal and is certainly enough for small shows considering I would be mic'ing it through our 6000+ watt PA and monitoring system. I was looking at the Jim Root Dark Terror. A buddy of mine has the 100w Thunderverb head through a 5150 4 x 12 cab. Its a great high gain tone. A little shrill to my ears but VERY VERY forgiving if you are a sloppy player. It almost sounds like my Vetta!!!

Yeah it is a loud 15 watt for sure. It keeps up!!! I agree too that it is a little grainy and saturated on both it does cover mistakes. I roll with gain no higher than noon... I personally like a brighter tone it define fly would be shrill for some! The tt is awesome I know you will love it. Orange definitely is its own flavor no pun intended.

Had a 50wt 2/12 combo when those came out. Nice Marshall-like tone. More old VH than 5150s at that time. Never used anything but a chord...and DD-3 in the loop.
