Looks pretty sweet. I got a Blackstar HT20 recently cos I always wanted a Blackstar but....really, I always wanted a Marshall. Might sell it and get one of these. Yours looks like a smaller one? Do you think the smaller speaker makes much difference? That was one thing I want in an amp, the 12" speaker but man it leads to a heavy amp!

If you want it loud stick with the bkackstar. I had the HT20 but couldn't get on with it. The JVM 1 watt and the ht20 are completely different animals meant for different things. If you want awesome Marshall tone at apartment levels, the 1 watt series nails it. The 8" speaker sounds great at night time levels, but if you want to crank it on full power mode, its better through a cab

Nah, I'll never gig with it, I just wanted to get myself a nice amp and the HT20 came up at a great price. I also have a wee MG15 that I always bring out if I want a jam so I'd be better off just getting a really nice small amp like yours instead of a crappy wee one and a nice big one that never gets cranked!
Shoulda never sold the old Marshall AVT20 I had years ago lol

I was always interested in those 1 watt Marshalls. Does the JVM1 have the highest gain out of the 1-watt series? I figured it did but wasn't sure.

I'm not sure if the JVM or DSL has the most gain. I prefered the JVM out of the two, just prefered the range of rock / metal tones I could get. It just insipred me more than the DSL. It's got more gain than I need

Nice amp. I almost bought one of those about a year ago, I always heard good things about them and the JVM line. How are the cleans?

Cleans are very nice, but don't stay clean for long. At lower volume they are very clear / chimey, hot pickups make it break up a bit, if you roll the volume back it tames it a bit.
I'm only really a bedroom warrior these days and tried a few different amps / pedals to get what I wanted. I liked the DSL40 but couldnt get it to sound good at the levels I played the most -in the evenings when the kids have gone to bed. I even tried the yamaha THR thing, it was good, but like a few other things I tried just got uninspiring, but this little 1 watter makes me smile every time i plug into it. I got it at a knock down price which was still a lot for what it is, but will never sell this one

Yeah I think the 2nd generation, it was a fab wee amp. That's why I moved up to the 150W version but it was way too big so lay in my cupboard and never got played. We're looking at getting an extension now though, hence my Blackstar purchase.
I had a look at those 1W JVM's like yours...damn man, they are EXPENSIVE! I think I saw a shop-soiled one for about £4-500 on ebay?! Think I'll need to stick with my Blackstar for now lol

                              +1

Also had the DSL1 before getting the JVM1.
DSL1 was nice, sounded great, even better with boost pedals.
The JVM is the gain monster of the 1 watt line.
I always run it thru JCM 4x12 with 75's
