  • 1986 USA Jackson Serial #2422 Estimated Value

    Hi folks,

I am new to the forum and was hoping someone could give me an estimate on what my Jackson guitar is worth as I am looking to sell it. I am the original owner, and purchased it in early 1987 from the Guitar Center in Torrance, CA (now located in Lawndale, CA) for $1250. The date hand written in the neck pocket is Sept 26, 1986. The neck was custom built by Jim Foote of Music Works in Hermosa Beach, CA within 6 months after purchasing the guitar. It's a 24 fret unfinished maple with reverse headstock and jumbo frets. I don't know what the fretboard radius is but feels like 14". Unfortunately, after many moves, I do not have the original neck which I know will be a problem for many.

Pics are attached! If anyone has a ballpark estimate on what would be a fair asking price for this guitar, I would very much appreciate the input.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jason

Yeah, without the original Jackson neck that's gonna hurt the resale value. The Kahler kills it too, in terms of resale value. One hum limits the market. So for a Jackson bolt on with a Kahler/one hum and non original neck, I'll guess $350?

Agree - neck and Kahler make this one a $300 - $350 guitar. Neck plate and body are really the only valuable parts here. If it came with a Floyd AND had it's original neck then triple that amount.
