  • NAD - Diezel VH4S with matching cab

Well I was browsing eBay last week and came across a couple of VH4's. I have always wanted one after trying one out several years ago. I just never want to pay the sticker price. I noticed that the used prices have been falling a little lately. I checked craigslist and found a VH4 with the Columbus switcher for a great deal, but the guy changed his mind bout shipping at the very last moment. Now I got bummed because I had my mind set about actually having this, so I looked at Reverb. I found a mint condition VH4S with matching bottom for a very reasonable price, so i pulled the trigger. I have never actually bought anything from Reverb yet, so I was a bit apprehensive for this to be my first but oh well you have to start somewhere. It will be arriving today. I am working from home today waiting...and waiting... Come on Fedex, anytime now...

If anyone has any experience or setting suggestions please don't be shy. I'd love to hear em.

Just arrived. Seller didn't ship a power cord. Not a big deal, but why? I swear someone, somewhere is collecting a shit ton of power cords because I never get them. I am also trying to figure out exactly how to hook this damn thing up. I haven't had a stereo head in a LONG time. I can easily connect it to a couple of cabs, but I wanted to try to connect it to just the diesel v412 to start. The ohm markings are written in marker and are worn off. So now I need to do some research. The connectors are red and black which would indicate a stereo connection, but I just need to know where on the head. This thing has a million of options. Oh it can't be easy, and I just want to play.

It turned out pretty simple really. 16ohm mono 8ohm stereo cab. Only got a half hour or so on it, but sounds pretty good so far. Channel one is crystal, 2 is nice, 3 and 4 are an entirely different league. Very sensitive controls. Not exactly intuitive, at least not for me yet. I need more time behind the wheel.

Thanks guys. I am still in learning mode with this one. So very touchy! A ton of tones though. And to my surprise, extremely quiet. I mean unnervingly so. Built like a tank. I heard so many conversations with a VH4 and an Uber, and having had a very early Uber, I can say the VH4 is NOTHING like an Uber. I could get very detailed about my feelings about that, but very quickly the gain stages are voiced very different and the VH4 has so many more options. Don't get me wrong I loved my Uber, but it was very focused on doing one thing very well. This thing seem to be able to handle many things the same way.

Thanks guys. I have had some time now with this one and absolutely love it! It's one of those you never want to lose. My room is getting filled with those types of things. It does so many different things so great, it's fantastic. I really wanted to take it out with me, and play it as my live rig, but a condition has come up and sidelined me for the last 9 months and will have me down for the next 1-2 years. In the meantime, it has been a most excellent addition to my studio!
