cool! that little watter got boring quick, huh?

Mark, I have been non stop jamming on that HT-5 since I bought it. I love that amp. I don't use any of my other home rehearsal amps anymore. I mainly used modeling at home for rehearsal but they can't hold a candle to the HT-5 full mini stack.
I only have 1 stage amp left. Its a fully modded DSL100 but its been breaking down a lot and I really can't trust it. Its back at the shop again. I had also sold all my 4 x 12 cabs figuring I will never gig again. Well... even though I am not out of the woods by a longshot with my heart I am still preparing to hit the clubs again. I need to be ready if I get called into action. I figure a 6505+ and a decent 4 x 12 cab loaded with Celestion speakers is my ticket to ride just in case. I actually have 3 bands interested in me so the door is wide open. I just need to keep focusing on getting myself well and keeping calm. I am still eating 100% healthy, hitting the gym an hour a day, sleeping good, not drinking, (I have never smoked), taking all my meds and generally trying to be MR. HEALTH!

This is totally off topic for the 6505+ (which, is a fucking badass amp. Which, you already know), but keep on kicking ass in regards to your health. That'll work itself out with time and good habits, and post up some stage shots when you get back to gigging.

Cool man!! Just messing with you. Glad you are recovering well. I remember the struggle to get back onstage. I had a massive seizure in 2007. It left me with some pretty serious brain damage from lack of oxygen and impact. It was a bit like a stroke. I had a hard time with fine motor skills, muscle memory, short-term memory, and simple tasks like walking and talking. I remember being SO frustrated because I could barely play the guitar. I lost YEARS of knowledge - I remembered super-simple things like power chords, but I had to relearn many open chords. Scale knowledge? Hahaha, out-the-window. Shred abilities? Gone. It sucks bad. It took a while but I got back up there, and while I am only 1/3 of the player I used to be I am SOOOOOO happy to be able to play at all. I am SOOOOO happy to step up on the stage and rock. Anyway, keep up the healthy path, and enjoy that 6505+!!

have you tried one with a Recto cab? that was my favorite combination the Mesa V30's sound great with that Head.

I had a few 5150's and 5150-II's. My favorite cabs with them were the stock 5150 cabs loaded with stock sheffields. I can see where Mesa cabs would be a great choice because they tend to be darker sounding. I have also used Marshall 1960's loaded with T75's that sounded good.

John buying more amps sounds like the John we know here, must be getting better and we're glad to hear that

Here are some pics of my new amps. The 4 x 12 is a Crate with Celestion 80w speakers in it. Its a pretty nice cabinet although cosmetically challenged. Its one of the better quality Crate cabs. The head is a 120w 6505+ which is just a rebadged 5150-II. When Eddy left Peavey he took the Wolfgang guitar and the 5150 name so the only thing Peavey did was change the name of the amp. Its 120w running 4 6L6's and 6 12AX7A's... that's right.. 6 preamp tubes. The extra tube is there to clean up the clean channel which is outstanding. Does it have gain? What do you think!!! The Blackstar HT-5 has stock 1 x 10" closed back cabs loaded with Celestions.

Congrats. As you already know, the 6505+ is a great amp and the clean channel is a lot better than it gets credit for.

I had one for a few years that was my main gigging amp that I just let go a couple weeks ago. It was killer, but since getting my Mark V I didn't use it as much. I did pick up an EVH 5150 iii 50 watt though and it is very similar to the 6505+ in a lot of ways.

I have been ripping up on the 6505+ all weekend. This amp is the true definition of BRUTALZ. Its just amazing how much gain it has along with retaining clarity and punch. There is absolutely NO fizz with this amp. Its all punch you in the gut high gain tone. The clean channel is stellar. The crunch channel has enough gain to play metal no problem and the lead channel is just insane. I can play ANY 80's and 90's metal on the lead channel with the gain on 5.
Its just an incredible amp for the high gain lead player who plays live and wants an amp that does it all. Clean, heavy rhythm and lead. Its also pretty darn quiet, has a VERY user friendly effects loop and did I mention its 120w running 4 6L6's and 6 preamp tubes? Yes... its just stupid loud. Bone crushing ear bleeding loud.

Cool, I loved the ones I had, unfortunately I was never gigging while I owned one and they are a bit overkill for playing at home ......alone LOL!

What do you think of the celestion speakers in that crate cab? I bought one at a pawn shop for $125 but have nothing to compare it to.

its just as good as any of the other celestion equipt marshalls, peaveys and mesa's.
