I like Marshalls so I think I was told I would like them. Never tried one.

The guy says he thinks it needs tubes so that kind of sends up a red flag to me.

My friend who is a tech bought one new. Never was quite happy with the distortion on it. Mesa came out with a mod for them which he performed on it. We both thought the mod made it sound worse, very muddy. He promptly reversed the mod. Eventually sold it off. I say if you want a Marshall sound buy a Marshall. Get a Mesa if you want a Mesa sound and Mesa makes several other amps that sound much better than the Deuce and Stiletto.

I had one for a while and really liked it. It was an original version Deuce. Like all Mesa's, you absolutely needed to EQ it with your ears and not your eyes. Definitely had a hot rodded Marshall Tone but you could not EQ it like a regular Marshall. If I remember correctly, I think I had the Bass really low and Treb really high. Its been a while.

Andy Timmons also has some great vids on the Tube.

I have had lots of different Mesa amps so I know the EQ drill on them.
The guy has a fair price on it and I thought I might flip it at the upcoming guitar show in Ohio.
I have an 85 2205 Marshall so not searching for the Marshall tone.

Yeah it is. He needs to know if it does need tubes or not.

If you were hot to trot for a Stiletto then maybe you might have a go at the price to get a solid bang for your buck but to possibly buy another player's problem on an amp you are not 100% sure on would end my curiosity real fast.

I agree I don't need to drop money into it that would kill my profit margin.

Also remember that it might be a hard sell. There have been lots of them for sale around here lately, and they never seem to sell. I've had several people offer them to me in trade.
