  • Rivera amps in Shadows Fall

    Anyone listen to them?
I have "Threads of Life" , "Fallout from the war"and just picked up "Fire from the Sky".
I noticed the guitar tone has changed quite a bit and discovered they moved from Krank amps to Rivera amps.
Now I play a Revolution 1 Krank and really dig it. But this new tone they have with the Rivera is interesting. I watched a review on the Rivera from Jon Donais and he explains what he really likes about the amp change. It's something I would also seek in a replacement amp IF I ever decided to change.
Anyone play a Rivera? Thoughts? Hows the clean channel?

Rivera's are the best IMO. ALL Rivera's have a stunning clean channel. If your interested look up a Rivera KR55, they do EVERYTHING, rock, metal, country, blues. They have a very comprehensive eq, which is very responsive and can be a little bit challenging, at first, to dial in, but totally worth it. I had a Quiana 2x12 but had to get rid of it because of my back, the thing weighed a TON. I sold to a huge biker guy and I told him to be careful carrying it and he kinda laughed. By the time he got up the stairs with it, he looked like he was going to puke, lol. I said, I told you that bitch was heavy. Miss that amp terribly.

I LOVE Rivera. Been playing them since 1990. I opened for Anvil on Saturday night. Used a Rivera M60 head with a Marshall 2x12. Got endless compliments on my tone - even from guys that are touring with Anvil.

Anvil was louder than fuck. It was still Lips and Robb with some other dude on bass. They were really good, and Lips was still using his Twin Reverbs with the fender 2x15 cab. I was talking to him after sound check. He let me check out is red sparkle Ocktober Guitars Sig. V....it was pretty awesome!! It was a great show!!!

Cool!...saw their special awhile back and was disappointed that there was really hardly any of their music in it. It had a lot of interesting personal storyline and mostly about their dedication never say die attitude. But we as musicians know that NOT playing music is really not an option or choice anymore.

Lips was cool. I gave him a copy of my band's album. He was genuinely thrilled at getting it. Robb on the other hand was a total dick. Unapproachable in everyway.

My number 1 is a Rivera Knucklehead II. I have a bunch of amps, and whenever I play anything else at practice, the other guys say "hey man, you should play the Rivera". The EQ controls are ridiculously flexible. It's built like a tank, with very heavy gauge chassis, huge trannies, etc.. It cuts through the mix extremely well, but isn't overbearing. And yeah, the clean channel is fantastic. The only negative I can think of is that at bedroom volumes it sounds like a kazoo, but let's face it, if you're using a 120 watt amp for bedroom practicing, you're doing it wrong

Assuming all Riveras sound this good, and are built so well, I would never hesitate to recommend a Rivera to someone.

I'm actually considering buying a combo that I can cart around easily to buddies places, and number one on my list right now is a Rivera Clubster 25.
                    Sleep!!, That's where I'm a viking!!

I missed out on a Knucklehead II a while back. I hope the guy puts it up for sale again.
                      Really? well screw Mark Twain.
