  • Converted a Marshall guy to Mesa

Since I got my Mark V have been offloading most of my other amps.
I sold a single recto solo 50 this week to a guy who is a big vintage Marshall fan. He has all the classics, 2203, plexi, jubilee, etc.
Here is the email he sent me a the evening of the purchase.

Thanks for selling the Mesa to me.
Nice variety of tones. Most musical amp I have ever played through.
It sounds incredible! Clean channel pushed with gain at 1:00 is awesome.
Better tone than any of my Marshalls.
    I am sold on Mesa!
    Thank you,
    Tony

Before he came over he tried to beat me up on the price because I didn't have the foot switch and claimed he could do better on fleabay.
I said no thanks, go ahead and buy that one but if you still want to come over and try out it feel free. I always like meeting other players.
He came over and messed around with it while I played through it. He was impressed enough to buy it on the spot.
He also has a PCS Rhoads, so you know the guy has good taste.
Anyway that's my story, just thought I would share.

    Nice.
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

Mesa's are great amps, I just can get past the gain structure and the fact that it costs the price of another amp to re-tube them, lol.
Still top notch quality, If Marshall was smart they should take notes, from Mesa, and maybe I would buy one that was not built prior to 1992, lol
Marshall quality SUCKS, every one I have played post 90's, seem cheap to me. JVM's are ok, but no where near Mesa quality.

I had a dual rectifier. I miss it. But at the cost of these amps in the UK, it's just too much. Great amps, but I get by with my Marshall and Peavey amps.

I'm in a similar situation. Formerly thought I needed to buy something Marshall, purchased a DC-5 from my boss at a very low price, and I'm getting the sound I only imagined...
