Re-routing KV2 body?

    Re-routing KV2 body?

    Hey guys, ive had my KV2 for around 7 months now, pretty happy with it beside the tiny frets (re-fretting soon),
    i changed the bridge pickup to a Bill Lawrence L500XL which i like, but the pickup itself is quite thick and barely fits,
    i have the action pretty much as low as i can without have the strings too close to the pickup, which unfortunately is still alittle too high for me.

    Now my question is, can i route i guess an extra 3-4mm in the pup cavity? without going through the body completely to the floyd rose springs?

    in other words how thick is the wood between the pickup cavity and spring cavity behind?


    i hope that makes sense.



    p.s Ive been coming to this forum for a while, but for some reason had trouble making an account. (it never completely registered).
    for some reason it worked today, which im pretty happy about.

    I don't think anyone can answer that off hand. But if you arm yourself with a decent steel ruler you can work it out. Just measure the body side thickness in mm.

    Remove the pickup and measure from the top of the body to the bottom of the route. Subtract this from the thickness. Then measure from the bottom of the body to the tremolo cavity. Subtract this and there's your answer.

    Now the real question. Would I do this to my own KV2s simply for a pickup? Honestly, no! I don't think I would.

    For what it's worth, I prefer the Seymour Duncan Invader to the L500XL. But that's just me. I can assure you that you will notice a far more significant difference once you get the jumbo frets on there.
