  • Got my JVM

About a month ago, I picked up a used Marshall 1960A cab loaded with G12-T75's, because I was determined to get another Marshall head at some point. Well, two weeks ago I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a used JVM410H head. I bought both through GC because of the return policy, as a precaution since I've never plugged into a 410 before.

Why the delay in posting this? Because I didn't want to be like I was with the Splawn Quick Rod and come in here "gushing" about it, only to wind up hating it. With the Splawn, I liked it less every time I plugged in. So now that the honeymoon is over, I can honestly say that this Marshall ROCKS! I absolutely LOVE it! I swear I don't think it's capable of making a bad sound if you tried (well, okay, maybe if you really tried).

I've played across it almost every day for the last two weeks. My favorite setting is OD1 in the Orange/Amber mode. The only thing missing to my "signature" sound was delay. So I picked up a Digitech Element XP a few days ago and finally got around to plugging it in tonight. For those who don't know, this is a $99.00 multi-effect unit with an Expression pedal.

Anyway, tonight was magic. I struggled for a bit with the pedal because a few things aren't all that intuitive. Once I got it dialed in the way I want, though, BAM! There was THE sound. It was warm, rich, very tube-like. It reminds me of my old JCM 800 rig but without the hiss.

So in short, it's like everyone says; Marshall definitely got this one right!

      Congrats Man!!

I've always wanted to try a JVM, and so far haven't had the chance. It's still on my GAS list, but I ended up getting a 6100 which I've also wanted for a long time.

Its a fine sounding Marshall. Probably one of the best new Marshalls. I ended up picking up on of the new DSL100H's. I am very impressed. Yea... Marshall got that JVM410H right for sure.

Congrats dude! The JVM is a very nice amp and as long as you got what you were looking for in the end that is all that matters!

Thanks, guys. I love the JVM but I'm not quite completely sold on the Digitech Element pedal yet. I got it because it was cheap and had a few effects. I might take it back and get something different.

            But yeah, the JVM kills.

That's the boat I was in recently. I had never plugged into a JVM until a JM205H showed up at the local GC. I liked it, but it got sent off for repairs because the Reverb stopped working. If not for that I might have pulled the trigger on that one. But I took a chance and bought this 410 through them and it's a keeper.

If I ever run across a used DSL40C combo at the right price, I might grab it. I've tried the DSL100H and the little DSL15H head and they do sound nice.

Wow. All this time I had assumed that this was a 2007-2008 model, mostly because of the great deal I got on it. Well, I looked into the serial number tonight and it is:

                    A 2012 model.

Definitely wanting to add one to the collection sometime! I love the ones I've played in the stores!

I might be picking up a JVM410 head myself this weekend. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Update: I got rid of the RP500. I'm more of a "single pedal" kind of guy. I got a used Boss DD-3 but it's not really doing it for me, so I may look at a replacement.

                            But I LOVE the JVM!
