I don't have too much personal experience with Marshalls, but I think you could get that tone from a Mesa Mark IV or V. I've played a Marshall JVM410 and perhaps with an EQ in the loop you could get in that ballpark. I know I could get pretty close to that tone using my Mark V though.

What the hell have you been listening to then bro? The signature Marshall sound dates back to at least the 60's and is a very "classic" sound. Not sure who you were listening to but IMHO it takes work to get bad tone out of a real Marshall.

I kind of agree its hard to make a Marshall sound bad.
The Cameron tone is sterile next to a Marshall.Just my opinion.

Yea I should have stated the new model Marshalls. I used to have a jcm800 2203 and sold it in the 80's. Probably the worst gear move I made. Tsl and jvm clips werent too impressive but I found an amp modder I may send an amp to to get pretty close.

To be honest, that clip sounds like shit. But yeah, any modern Marshall should be able to get within the ballpark, especially with a boost. DSL, TSL, 6100, JVM. I wouldn't place too much stock in Youtube clips though, as 99% sound like shit. Plus it seems that most people seem to think you can get a great tone out of a Marshall at low volume. Marshalls ALL sound better LOUD.

That clip is of the Cameron CCM which I don't know if any ever got produced. The Cameron CCV is the more classic modded Marshall sound and they did make some of those amps. I have a Cameron CCV and I love it! Mark Cameron also modded stock Marshalls and you can always pick up one of those for a signature Cameron sound. Just search for Cameron Aldrich mod, Ocean mod, both of those are common Cameron modded Marshalls. If the question is how can I get that tone with $99 pedal through my existing amp? Then that's probably not going to happen.

Yeah maybe look for a Cameron modded Marshall. I don't believe any of the stock Marshalls are going to get you completely there. Maybe a JVM410 can get you close? IMO the Cameron amps have more of a Mesa flavor than Marshall.

Sorry man, I wasn't calling your taste into question. I should have been more clear. The amp sounds great, but the clip doesn't do it justice at all. You can still kinda tell how it would sound in the room. I just wish people would make more effort with making amp demo videos. More often than not, they are recorded on a smart phone, and just sound awful. It kinda defeats the purpose of an amp demo IMO.

That second demo sounds great!

Not sure if you normally use a boost in front of your amp, but I think it's an essential tool for anyone and any amp. It just gives you so many more tonal options. That Cameron sounds somewhat squishy and compressed, which is exactly what a boost will do to a Marshall. Use it with the level all the way up, and drive set fairly low. Adjust to taste.

Many of the Cameron amp clips were indeed recorded on nothing more than a smart phone or small hand held recorder. The CCM in the above video was recorded that way because these were done at amp shows with people just wandering around checking things out. Cameron stuff sounds nice! I have a CCV as well as a Cameron modded Marshall reissue and neither sounds more Mesa to me. They do have a unique tone however.

They occasionally pop up on E-Bay but most of the ones I've seen for sale are on Rig-Talk. There are quite a few Cameron owners and sellers on that forum. I got my Cameron CCV from there while my Cameron modded Reissue was from E-Bay.

The amp in the video sounds very much like a Splawn to me. That is, it invokes my gag reflex. Stiff, sterile, lacking warmth, however you want to put it.

But you could put a distortion box in the effects loop of most tube Marshalls and get that sound.

The Cameron CCV is modeled in the AxeFX 2. As are several other amps in the same tonal ballpark. (Carol-Anne Triptik modern, Friedman BE/HBE, Splawn Quickrod and Nitro)
