  • Guys I need a full delay with a softer clean touch

None of my Delay's will do the job. Mine are harsh and a slight touch of the buttons sends me in all kinds of directions. An easy simple straightward delay will do just fine/ Any recommendations?

My Maxon Ad-10 Analog Delay is a monster.

Which delays do have that you don't like? For pedals I use the Retrosonic Analog Delay, TC Electronic's Flashback delay pedal, Eventide Time Factor, or MXR Carbon Copy. I have them on different boards. All are nice sounding. The TC Electronic and MXR are much cheaper than the TimeFactor or Retrosonic.

Yes for sure! The new Korg SDDE-3000, release of an old rack unit morphed into a pedal.

I've used a Boss DD-20, MXR Analog Delay (that I should have kept), and this AD-10 won't tame. Maybe a fender?

How much delay time you need? Analog or digital preference?

For cleaner and non-high gain stuff my favorites are the Ibanez AD9 and then some of the tape echo type delays....Wampler faux tape echo and the Catalinbread Belle Epoch

Other than delays built in to my rack processors I have a TC Flashback and an EHX Memory Boy. The Memory Boy is a good warm analog delay, but if money is no object go for their Memory Man Deluxe. Once I got the TC Flashback, the EHX went back to languish in it's box. I currently just use the delays built in to my Axe FX 2.

I have a G major 2 just no midi pedal to work it otherwise that would be perfect.

for the cost of a new MXR carbon copy you could get a good, used midi pedal for your G major. if the G major's delays make you happy, just get the midi pedal.

I thought he was looking for pedals. But yes, if you already have a G-Major you can tweak what's in there as well as get a midi controller for it. When I get some time I'm going to wire up an 80's style rack using some old Roland SDE delays and reverbs as well as the new Fulltone rack chorus (TERC for That 80's Rack Chorus). Old school 80's tone

Thanks for the help fellas, you guys are top notch! I purchased a Voodoo Labs Ground Controller just to mess with that G major 2.

I use the ground control with my GCX switching system. it's a cool pedal. I like the smaller profile of the old one over the newer GC pro. good choice! you can attach expression pedals too so you can control aspects of your delay in real time. personally, I am not that good with midi - but it can be done!!

GCP is a great pedal, and easy to set up. I used one with my AxeFx, and once I figured it out, it was pretty intuitive.

Another good choice with lots of options would be a Line 6 M13 or M9.

Eventide Eclipse. Does more than just delay but sounds fantastic. Yep, its a rack, but has two jacks for expression pedals.

I second the DD-20 from Boss, I owned it and It's the very best Delay pedal I have ever used. It's fully programmable which makes it versatile and doesn't color the sound. It gets out of the way of your tone man. I'd strongly suggest checking that out.
