  • NAD I love this stuff...

Peavey 5150 head. Signature script model.
Its very dangerous playing out of one of these that's for sale because you will often find yourself buying it.
Great amp. Huge amount of gain. Stupid loud. Very versatile from blues to rock to BRUTALZ.....
    2 channel. Footswitchable loop.
I have owned several of these in the past and I still have a 5150-II.
I also have a Triple X which is VERY similar to the 5150-II.

Here is the best way to explain the tone. Take a Marshall DSL100 and put a BBE Sonic Stomp in the loop or... just listen to a stock Soldano SLO100. That's what a 5150 sounds like. People complain about the clean channel? That's crap. Its PERFECT for rock. If you are doing Amber by 311... find another amp. If you are doing the clean that's in most rock or metal songs.. its great.
The gain channel can go from mild to just ridiculous.
Its also bulletproof so gig with NO worries.
Tweaking is not required. It only has basic knobs and a shared EQ. Its like an old school JCM800 that has been highly modified.
    Anyway... its great.

    John,

I have a Randall RM100LB. I don't know if you tried this, but is it possible to get a 5150 tone with a custom module or is it best to get the real thing?

I owned the RM100. If you want a 5150 tone.. buy a 5150. They are cheap. You can get one on Ebay for $450 if you can wait.
I think the SL+ or the Ultra XL could get you partially there.
I owned the RM100, I owned the Soldano SLO100. I have owned highly modded JCM800's and Plexi's with all kinds of mods done to them.
The 5150 sounds the most like a bone stock Soldano SLO100 to my ears.
