  • 90s Coral Sea Dinky, ID?

Hi guys, I came across this axe, the owner wants a trade for one of my guitars and the only thing I can't figure out is it a Fusion or a Dinky? I know that the spacing between the pickups gives it away but I can't really tell. Any thoughts? Btw the serial # is 001167. Does that make it a 1990? Thanks!

Two guitars are better than one.

Someone else will tell you if it's a Dinky or Fusion since I'm not sure, but the serial number indicates 1991. http://www.jacksonguitars.com/en-CA/...erial-numbers/
    96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.

I thought Dinky meant bolt-on & it's my understanding that Fusions were short scale.

I would say it is dinky based on the three mini toggles. Fusions came with that paint scheme . But had a five way blade switch and mini toggle between the volume and tone.

a dinky is a bolt on. But not all bolt ons are dinkys.

It's weird, in the '91 catalog there isn't even a Dinky. But I can't really believe Jackson didn't make any Dinkys in 1991. Also I noticed the blade switch thing, and I'm kinda edging towards it might be a Dinky but still I'm not sure.

Nope. Quite a few Dinkies have that, and not all Fusions do.

But they did have Strats and Strat 24's.

I would measure the scale and if it is 25 1/2 it is a dinky and if it is 24 3/4 it would be a fusion. The lack of the wah circuit sorta gives it away also,
I like black and white guitars

No problem. I know at least one of the Fusions doesn't have it (can't recall which model off hand). My Dinky HX has it, and I've had two Dinky Reverse models with it.

The ones with trans tops don't have the scallop on the lower horn.
