  • CS Select Warrior ordered!

Just to share my enthusiasm! I've ordered a Custom Shop Select Warrior through The Music Zoo! It's gonna be a really basic guitar with aggressive looks, with only specs I need. I own an RR24 (Jap), a '94 Pro Soloist and a Custom Shop Soloist (SL2H-V) and I thought a Warrior would be a nice addition to my collection. Never played one before, but they should be really comfortable

    -Warrior body shape
    -Mahogany body
-Mahogany neck (ebony fretboard with MOP sharkies)
    -Reverse headstock with MOP logo
    -Ivoroid neck and headstock binding
    -All black finish
    -1 humbucker (JB)
-1 EVH low-friction volume pot (placed 1/2 inch back)
    -Recessed floyd rose

They say the waiting time is aprox. 4 months. I hope it arrives just in time before we go on our 3 week European tour.

Sweet, that should be killer. Warriors are very comfy to play, you won't be disappointed.

Good move moving that volume knob back. The WR1 has the most obnoxious volume knob placement of any of the standard models.

You might just wanna go ahead and plan bringing a secondary guitar for your tour. I've been waiting since April 2013 for my Custom Select Warrior to arrive and I was going under the assumption of it maybe taking no longer than 4 or 5 months max. They did finish it in December, but it was the wrong color (really more of a miscommunication issue than anything) so it had to be redone and was again finished in the first week of March. So, it was done 3 months ago and to my knowledge it still has not even left the factory to the dealer despite them promising him that it would finally ship a month ago. I keep saying "Maybe it'll come this week." "Well, maybe this week." "Hmm, maybe next week?" "Ok, maybe next month..." I was really hopeful the Custom Select thing would work better but for me its been very disappointing and I almost feel like I may as well have gone and done a full custom and planned to wait the extra year. I will say the picture I was shown of my guitar looks very cool, so its killing me knowing its just sitting somewhere done and out of my hands. I hope yours goes much faster than mine!

I sure hope it won't take as long as yours, Scholomance. I do think that 4 months is a very optimistic estimation. It won't arrive in time for the tour since it starts on October 2nd, so I'll bring along a backup guitar anyway ;-)

By the way: I was really amazed by the price. I've altered pretty much everyting on this guitar, and it still was below the listed price of the base model. I love CS Select.

This is going to be very cool! An interesting choice on the neck.

Yep. Mahogany body + mahogany neck is not very common for Jackson guitars. My Custom Shop SL2H-V has that same combo, and in combination with a JB in the bridge, it's the ultimate sound for me. It makes it sound super tight but still roaring as an angry bear. I used to have bad experience with mahogany guitars. Mostly a muddy/fuzzy sound on cheap guitars, but Jackson CS is a whole other thing ;-)

I didn't realize 1 hum was an option now. Got the gears turning...

Yep! They allow a lot! They even do reversed sharkies (confirmed) and probably 80% logo on reverse headstock to (unconfirmed from my side), but that's not listed on the sheet.

If they would just 'allow' me to add an extra string to the next one, I might be tempted to forgive how long the first one is taking!

They sure do! Since I'm too lazy to start my own thread, I just put in a Custom Select order too:

                              - RR24
                              - Single hum
                              - Volume only (rear loaded controls)
                              - Non-recessed Floyd
                              - Black hardware
                              - No inlays
                              - Silver Sparkle with matching headstock
                              - 100% outline logo
