I don't know if I believe everything he's saying. I've been using Floyd's for a long time with zero issues. I'd have to play with this "Axmax trem" for a while myself before I'd buy into what he's selling. I mean I have a Kramer Baretta from 1984 and the Floyd barely has any discoloration on it. I've been playing that guitar for a long time with no issues. I know for a fact it still keeps tune just as good as the day I got it. People have been working on coming up with something better than Floyd for a long time. Is this it? Who knows but I'll stick with my Floyd's for the time being. Funny how he mentioned George Lynch....I've been a fan of Lynch for a long time and I've never seen a single guitar he was playing with this trem unit on it.

it has the same Achilles heel as a Kahler.. the rollers..

its essentially non locking at the bridge.. thus, if you dive it and the rollers have any bind in them whatsoever, its going to go out of tune when you release...

One of the key to setting up a Kahler is to get as much break angle over the rollers as possible, which usually requires a purpose built custom and replacing the height adjusting allen screws in the kahler with longer ones.. not possible here. (this is one reason kahlers get a bad rap.... 90% of the guitars that have them, don't have the neck angle necessary to get the saddles up high enough.

one would think that less angle would promote the string gliding better over the roller, and, to an extent that's correct, however, it sucks sustain and tone

I'd be interested in checking one out none the less..

but at that price, I would not put one on an H.E.L. guitar (unless it was specifically ordered) when i can get a proven, known, reliable product like a Schaller or genuine floyd for half as much.

this guy has an uphill battle.. Hope he gets a good, known, company to use it or it will fall into obscurity

I agree. I know Kahlers work but they are more complicated and therefore require more maintenance. I applaud this guy for trying to push tremolo design forward but in my opinion this bridge doesn't do that. The design of the OFR is really tough to improve on.

Interesting that he mentions about the Floyd bar stripping threads, but doesn't point out that if you strip one of his fine tuners then you have a $300 door stopper.

Seems Super Vee already came out with a better concept. Especially for strats. This doesn't seem much of an improvement to an OFR, especially at the pricepoint of $329. So buy a guitar with a good FR and then pay $329 to upgrade to this? Doesn't make much sense.

It looks interesting. But anyone that knows anything about OFR's can easily set them up and make them rock solid. I wouldn't mind trying one but for that price? Likely not going to happen anytime soon....If you want a change from a OFR then try a Gotoh..they are as awesome, or better then an OFR...

Yeah, I just thought it was interesting.
One thing I DO like better than the Floyd though is that this thing a solid piece of brass.
But, my two favorite trems I have ever used are:
#1. the Kahler 7210. I STILL and always will maintain that this is the best trem ever made. Adjustable at every conceivable point, still a two point fulcrum trem, and way more solid feeling than any Floyd/Floyd copy trem I've ever tried.
#2. the Ibanez Edge trem. I know it really is nothing more than a Floyd copy, but I just like them better than the OFR .

So, short:

-It's more susceptible for wear, being brass (except the armcollar,...which will wear out the ball in the arm) and having roller saddles
and by the time the knives wear out, the finetuners will already have enough play for pulling vibratotrics with them
-D-tuna my ass
-Never scoff at black anodized steel when you skimped on the block which is arguably the cheapest part of all
-2x the price

A regular Floyd has a D-Tuna built it... the fine tuners already have at least a one-step range of movement.

+1 I've never had an issue with dropping any of my Floyd's from E standard to D. In fact I have one guitar that has a Floyd Rose Original and I can get it to go from standard to DADGAD.

Yeah, but we're talking about dropping D in the flick of a switch, no tuning necessary, or else every guitar is standard equipped with a D-tuna
