I have a new jet city jca22h head running into a Marshall 1960a (g12t speakers) with my Charvel m3a with a screamin deamon in the bridge. When I played the amp in the store through an orange cab an some shit Ibanez it sounded great but when I plugged in my setup it sounded great at bedroom levels but when I crank it up it is ridiculously bright. I don't know if I should change out my screamin deamon which worked great through my peavey (not so much here:/) I know a speaker change might help but I don't know the first thing about guitar speakers. I also considered getting a brass block for my jt-6 and block it but I don't know how much that would help. If anyone has any recommendations I would really appreciate it.

turn down the presence and/or treble? Try facing the speaker cab to the wall when you crank the amp. It will be less of a blast in the face & will attenuate some of the highs

My presence and treble are at 1 I tried facing it to the wall and it helped a little but it's still kinda shrill sounding not to mention my dishes rattle in the next room lol

If you have the amp facing away from you and the treble/presence turned almost all the way down and it is still really bright......I'm inclined to think something is not working properly or maybe that amp just isn't for you.

With my old dean and my brothers stiletto it was really good despite how awful that guitar was. it's just my model 3 and that cab I have issues with. I'm probably gonna put a super 3 in the Charvel and if that doesn't work I might take the loss and snag another 5150 the neiborhood will get used to it.

The Demon is not a high output pick up. It's more Mid-range and low end than anything. Honestly all they are is hotrodded 59's and they can be bright when they're paired with the wrong wood I.E. maple body but I have the Demon in three of my guitars and I've never had a problem with any of them. I am going to have to agree with Chad it sounds like a problem with the amp and not the guitar. Try using the old amp and see if the problem persists.

I sold my old amp I did have the same issue just not to this extent. It was a 5150 and it was still kinda thin sounding that's why I feel like it's the guitar some way. I feel like Sherlock Holmes right now.

How close is the bridge pick up to the strings?

Like 3/8 to a quarter inch away, another thing I've noticed is the stock j-80 in the neck is no where near as bright or brittle. I think the bridge pickup is brighter than Einstein at the moment it almost sounds thin like a single coil but not as twangy.

Try lowering the bridge pick up a little more. When I put a Demon in the Bridge of My prestige Ibanez it was too bright and then I lowered it and it fixed the problem. Also check your solder joints. You could have a cold joint.

Lower the pick up and the pole pieces more on the treble side while you are at it.
One other tip use the tone knob on the guitar.

Not really bro I just have that pick up and know how it reacts pretty well. You should take Straycats advice over mine because he does this for a living and is a whizz at tech.

I have the same pick up in my crackle and it sounds pretty skippy I used a 300k RS/CTS super pot.
I use a 300k to tame the high end if the guitar just has a vol and no tone.
Personally with a scremin demon or JB a 300k pot does a great job.
