  • Could this be made by the Custom Shop?

This is the ultimate guitar for me, would they make it though?

Nope. Explorer bodies are not allowed. "Gentleman's agreement" between FMIC and Gibson.

I know that as far as Jackson goes, that since the Fender Buyout, the Gibson shapes are a no-no. Which is sad, because I think that beast would've smoked as a Jackson, just as much as a Charvel.

I would imagine that since Fender also owns Charvel, same goes for that custom shop as well.

Have you tried recreating that beast with the Kelly shape or as a Star?

I guess I would try a Star but I would want it as a setneck

Try Wayne.I don't know what his agreements are with Gibson and Fmic. Mike Learn might be another great choice.

Hamer won't do the crosses, headstock, or v-plate.

I'd say to contact GMW or a smaller builder.

I'm not seeing that as a negative!

Don't think Charvel would really do a neck on it's own, not to mention a neck like that. I know that Warmoth does Jackson head necks with crosses like that... However, they don't bind the head.

Seems a compromise will have to be met somewhere along the way if this guitar was to be built.

You could get it all warmoth built and buy a charvel sticker if you really wanted to. Wouldnt be 'charvel' though

Warmoth wont do 5A quilt on explorers or stars. I tried a while back and they said the body is too big for the pieces they had. I ended up building a tele thinline instead. I'd say consider a custom shop star.
