  • Summer NAMM Rumors

Anyone got any? :ROTF: I have nothing but idle speculation...

Seriously, I think it'll be a tough act to follow last summer's introduction of the USA Production Models. I suspect we're in for only a slight "tweaking" of that formula starting with Summer NAMM. And I suspect the recent white w/chrome hardware model may have been a preview of that.

I'm guessing there will more more than just "black" as the base model. Possibly just black and white, or maybe a few of the most popular candy colors from the earlier rotations (candy apple red, tangerine). No more than 3 or 4. They'll probably still do new limited colors. But I suspect the "limiteds" will now rely less on colors and more on alternative hardware colors, pickup combos etc. Maybe rosewood fretboards. Possibly even a simple graphic or two. (...Bullseye, anyone?)

Or I could be totally full of shit, too.

Interesting speculation and nothing so extreme that it couldn't be done.

I would hope for the sake of those who have already purchased some of the "limited" colors that they wouldn't make any of them "standard." Sort of ruins the whole purpose. Although I could maybe see black, red and white as standards.

I like the thought of several standards and having the different hardware and fretboard wood choices with the limited runs. I could certainly do without rosewood...ebony I could handle.

But to me, this all sort of goes against the whole idea of limited colors. They are the reason we speculate what the next batch will bring and create the excitement for the sneak peek videos...and of course, why we tend to buy them over the standards.

I always rag on FMICs marketing practices but the USA production series was genius. I hope they introduce a Telly head model and thats it.

I do not think that Jackson/ Charvel will be there this year.

Adding a bunch of new colours, changing hardware types and wood specs wont happen in my opinion. They used the same hardware and colour on all their guitars to keep the price down. Adding a whole range of new guitars will most likely bring a price rise.

I'm all for the standardising of white Charvels with chrome hardware though

I hope they don't make any previous custom colors base colors. I'd like my guitar to stay limited edition.

I don't own a production model but I would be really pissed if I did and they made any of the limited colors a standard color. That would suck big time. Surely they wouldn't do that.

I think you might see another pickup combo at some point. On Facebook they have another impromptu poll going about pickup combos.

It wouldn't bother me at all to see any of the limited colors go standard. Sure mine won't be worth more than I paid, but that was an aspect of Charvel started by a small group 20 years later, not a company-sponsored agenda.

I think everyone is kidding themselves if you're thinking the limited colors are going to be worth a premium at some point.

I just think the limited color aspect gives it more of a cool factor, that's all. I never personally had the expectation that they would be worth more. You might have to pay a bit of a premium for a used one down the road, say an extra $100 over a black one, but I agree the fact they are a limited color more than likely will never increase their value.

I'd like to see Jackson come out with an Import version of one of their "extreme" models.

I expect them to coast for this namm. They are still raking in the last announcements.
                              So,

Perhaps announce the next batch of colors and I'd like to see the P-Rails on some production model, Charvel or Jackson.
