  • Question about pickups in mid-1990´s San Dimas 1

Hi guys, I´m thinking of picking up one of the mid-90´s San Dimas 1´s... and all I can find out about the pickups is that they are custom DiMarzios. Does anyone now if these resemble any of the regular DiMarzio models?

I can speak only to the SC-II, which I recently bought from Mark.
They are supposed to be custom made for Charvel, but I think they are standard model Dimarzios with a C in front of the model number.
So, the number stamped on the back was custom, but the pickups are standard LOL

    Bridge: 152 Super 3
    Neck: 158 Evolution

Oh, and by the way... these are freakin' GREAT guitars!

Thanks, man! I guess it´s highly possible that the I and II had the same pickups, and that Super 3 and Evolution combo sounds pretty interesting in a mahogany body... gotta be one chunky guitar!

What´s weird is that the III and IV has "standard" DiMarzios listed... Chopper, Fast Track and Tone Zone. I suppose the "custom" pickups might have had some slight tweaks.

They may very well have had an extra turn of wire or two.
Guess we would have to chase down the real answer to that on the Dimarzio website/forum.

I thought the bridge pickup was a tone-zone?
Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

For the III and IV the bridge pickup is listed as a Tone Zone, but for the I and II it´s listed as a "Custom DiMarzio".

the custom dimarzio was in fact an evolution pickup that was specifically made for those charvels...at least that is what was in my old prototype...d.m.
