  • New Custom Arrives - Is it 1986 All Over Again? (Sort Of...)

This one arrived freshly yesterday. Very cool guitar, plays like a champ. And looks like a winner. Specs:

    - Dinky Strat
    - Mahogany body
    - 1/8th Flamed Maple Top (killer flame!)
    - Trans Purple Finish, Analine Dye
    - Quartersawn Maple Neck, Clearcoated
    - PC1 Neck Backshape
    - Strat Headstock
    - Pau Ferro Fretboard
    - MOP Dot Inlays
    - 24 Jumbo Frets
    - Original Floyd, Recessed
    - Gotoh Tuners
    - All Chrome Hardware
    - "Custom Shop" Logo on Back of Headstock
    - H-S Layout: Dimarzio Evolution (b) and Virtual Vintage Blues (n)
    - 1 Volume and 5-way Switch

Apologies for the cruddy pictures - not a great day for camera work. But it's late January in the northeast, so whatchya gonna do?

OK, here's where things get a little strange. Is it 1986 all over again? Are they moving the custom shop back to San Dimas, and ran out of Charvel neckplates? :ROTF:

    Hanging out with a bro...

Nah. Sure, I'd be curious to know. But they're busy guys and have better things to deal with, like building guitars.

Then again, maybe one of the J/C guys will see this thread and answer the mystery.

With so many things to like I pick 24 frets on a Charvel and Mahogany body as favorite features.

Very nice Pat. Looks kind of familiar, to a point at least...

Awesome! I love the pup/controls/wiring config on that. Very original! Except for the fact that you stole it from the Predator...

Great looking. I really like the purple. You can't go wrong with 24 frets and a dinky. That sure is strange about the neck plate.
