  • 5150I/II/III & 6505/6505+ comparison

A good friend of mine is looking to get one of these Peavey heads and he wanted me to ask you guys what you all think. I noticed that some of you had one or more of these models, so I thought that you guys could offer some insight on the subject that I could pass on to Keith.

All I know is the 6505 is an anniversary model (1965-2005) but I dont know if it is the same as the 5150II and just renamed or it was revamped totally.
I know that the 6505+ is kind of the same as the 6505, but with 1 more preamp tube, but I may be wrong on that also.
The 5150III is made by Fender, but thats all I know about that one.

What year were each model offered?
Is one version superior to the other?

I really appreciate your guys time and thoughts on this.
    Thank you in advance
    Joe

The Peavey 5150 is the same as the 6505.

The Peavey 5150ll is the same as the 6505+

The EVH 5150lll is a higher gain version of the two above, made by Fender.

The Peavey 5150's are reliable and built like tanks.

The EVH 5150's are unreliable, but have a tone that you'd almost die for...but they don't work, so get a Peavey.
