New pickups in my new SL2H BCSB...

I took out the two Duncans and put in an EMG 81 TW in the brigde and an EMG 89 in the neck. At first things did´nt sound quite like I wanted but I then realized that the repair guy had set the strings too high and the EMG 81 TW was too close to the strings....funny cause I normally put the EMG 81 close to the strings in the brigde position( like 2-3 mm) but in this case it sounds better on a distance.., also I like the strings better when they have been played a little..

The EMG 81 TW sounds great actually, it sure ads some diversity and in the middle position with both pickups splitted there is a nice swang/crispy sound.....best for less distiortion or clean.

The copper red logo looks great to the BCSB finish:

I was thinking about trying one of the 81TW's. Thanks for the info and glad you're happy with it. How does it sound split all by itself ?

Also, thats a sharp looking Soloist ! BCSB is just so classy looking.
I'm not afraid to bleed, but I won't do it for you.

About the sound of the EMG 81 TW in split mode..

I have never tried the EMG S Singlecoil in the brigde position so I can´t compare with that since that´s what they say it should sound like but maybe think of the EMG 81 TW singlecoil as an EMG 81 with less output/volume/ or non humbucking and with some singlecoil bite then you pretty much have the sound...

What's different between the normal 81 and the TW?

81TW can be coil tapped. they also have a slightly different sound in humbucker mode.

                I agree 100%

Also, I thought there was no tonal or output difference between the '81 and the '81TW, is that true, or have I been misinformed?
