  • What should I expect to pay for a used RR1 ?

What should I expect to pay for a used RR1 , in good shape (wing tips in good condition)?

And any other input that would be helpfull (I've never owned a RR before ,and just want to add one to my arsenal !)

    Thanks
    Jay

    Offhand I'd say money.

I bought a used USA RR1 off Ebay the other week and the wings are in good condition, it comes with it's hard case and has replaced EMG 83/81 pickups and that was $1,300. Also, it's Eerie Dess Swirl finish so it's a freakin' rare one too.

          Ebay pics:

Although, the USA Custom RR's are going for lower than this on Ebay, so I guess it just depends. The guys here will guide you in the right direction if you posted a link or maybe a pic and a price and asked if it was reasonable.

            Mitch - nice guitar !!she's a beauty !!!

Ok , let me ask a second question.I'm trying to decide between a 2000 model RR1 or a 1987 model RR1 ?Guys that are familliar with the differences ,please tell me about them(aside from the flat blade locking nut clamps and that the '87 has jackson active pup's? they appear about the same\differen't graphics tho)

Here's the fun part - Monday I can go for a bit of a drive and play the '87.The 2000 one would be pics only\but may sell before then)

The 87 will have small fret wire (non Jumbo) and wings are poplar, the 2000 will be jumbo frets and alder wings.

Unless your going for nostalgia i'd buy newer, or preferably near brand new.

Jackson has never made active pickups. They made active electronics to work with their passive pickups (and they'll work with any other passive pickup, they just sound/work better with the Jacksons).

its all in the timing huh? when I had the RR1 fever there were none to be found except the new ones, and seems like some of them were back ordered?

                    When do we see pics?

Any 198x Jackson is better than the 200x Jackson. Do yourself a favour and get a Custom Shop RR from the 80s, better quality (I have three 80s RRs and I also played a new KV2 and RR1) and they will only rise up in value.
