  • KV-2 serial no.

    Hello,

Trying to track the ID of the folloing Kv-2 but it doesn't seem to match up to it's serial no. Apparently it was made in 1997 & the serial no is 010719. I've checked against the serial no. chart for 97 & the number doesn't fall within the range. Any ideas?

    thanks

If it was made in 1997 then it was custom because KV2's were not made until 2001 I believe?

So technically it would be a USA King V Custom. It's possible that it's exactly like a KV2 in every way though.

I think you're talking about the one on EBay UK right?

The USA KV2 has been around since 1998.

The old import, bolt-on KV2 was around until 1997.

hmmm II didn't realize that the KV1 and KV2 were around at the same time.

Anyhow, in this case though, if the guitar is from 1997, it's got to be custom.

Not really. Is this KV2 in question a bolt-on with dot inlays? That serial number cannot belong to a USA model unless the first 0 is actually a U, which would put it post-2000, and it would have to be neckthrough if that was the case.

I haven't seen the UK Ebay listing in question, I'm just going on what little info about it is posted here.

A 6-digit serial on a Jackson neckplate is always Japanese.

Custom Shop neckthroughs have J+4 numbers (including any leading zeros) and Custom Shop bolt-ons have 4 numbers with no letters. That serial is too long to be a USA model, with the exception mentioned above.

Matt, remember that USA Production bolt ons have 6 digits on the neck plate. Customs have only 4. But this does not sound like a USA guitar...

Are you sure the first number is a 0 and not a U? U10719 would make more sense.

It too old to be U10719

I think it's some wired custom serial number...

I've seen the ebay auction, it's a really nice looking flame top USA KV Custom with a floyd.
