  • Big Reds,Double Rhoads, and 25th anniv...

Who all out there owns a 25th Anniversary Double Rhoads?
What about the Big Red tributes, who has one of these?
Anyone have a Double Rhoads Custom Shop?

If you guys own any one of these, I'd love to see pictures of them. I searched through the forum archives, and found no thread designated to just these 3 styles of guitars. I think they are awesome machines, and they're worth showing off. I'd love to own any of the above, one of these days. KV's just plain kick ass, and a Double Rhoads is double the ass
    kickin'!!

(I wonder if all 30 of the Big Red tributes are accounted for? Is there a registry for them?)

Charvel750, I know you posted some in another thread, but that was all jumbled up, so if you wouldn't mind can you post them once more, or add any other info or anecdotes of the guitar? Thanks brother!

Yeah, those Big Reds were made in the summer of 2004, although they were slated to be done much earlier. If you want to imagine a double Rhoads, turn a regular Rhoads backwards and the long fin is the same as the King V fin. In other words, a double Rhoads is a King V with fins as long as the longest ones on a Rhoads. Here's mine, #18:

Well it is the Big Red Prototype I have the tag in my fire safe with the build date but I would assume the same year as the Big Red run. Yes I bought it new. Here is a copy of when it was guitar of the month.

Thanks epjii, I noticed that your Prototype's controls are inline with each other, and Charvel750's production's are like a KV2. Wonder what else differed between the two?

Logo, headstock color, writing on pickups, no signed plate, no case candy, no painted case. Sully actually knows more about it than I do.

                Very cool!

This is #9 with her little, "older" Brothers.

I do play it out doing live shows quite a bit, ferocious sound through my XXX!!!

My only bitch, is the volume knob is under the bridge... The whammy bar gets in the way when doing volume swells... Gonna have ta bust out the soldering iron.

you've pretty much nailed it, sir! your clear coat is most likely polyester, when it was supposed to be urethane. the other potential difference is that your body wings are most likely alder - the second prototype (that later became jcf-02-01) had alder wings, but was supposed to be poplar.

doubtful, as there are owners of the jcf run that are either no longer members or do not post. jcf-02-30 is at fullers guitar cemetary. it's an extra, and has no signed plate, stenciled case, or the case extras, but it's available.
