  • Marshall MC412 vs. 1960...

I'm very curious as to why the MC412 is so much cheaper than the 1960. And with Marshall throwing an extra $100 rebate at the MC I'm really thinking of getting one.

But I need opinions before I do that.

My LMS has a 1960 but no MC412 for me to a/b them so I'm out of luck there.

    So to summarize:

    $500 is way < $800

    But is MC412 > than 1960?

The Marshall 1960a and b have been industry standards for over 30 years now. There simply isn't a better Marshall cabinet.

However there are plenty of cheaper cabinets made be less well-known names that will compete just fine with the 1960's for less money.

I don't know what the MC412 is - do you mean MG? If so it is much crappier.

AFAIK the MC is made in the UK and has real celestions while the MG is far eastern. I'm looking at one of these right now, does anyone own one? Reviews? Please?
I feel festive all year round. Deal with it.

          1960 300w
          mc 200w
mg 120w smaller cabinet too( I had one of the older 140w made in UK ones) loved it very bassey but kept my 1966 cab instead which is basically half of a 1960 cab.
          watts justifies price difference.
