  • A Globe of the World

I really like the study of history. Today, I found a 12 inch Globe. I'm trying to date it. I think it dates to the WWII years. I spent 20 minutes at the thriftstore just looking at it. I was thinking about where the world was frozen on that globe and where it is today. I had to have it. Maps are cool but a globe just makes the world, well, just global.:ROTF:

Does it show Israel as a country? That could narrow down the era.

Syria, Trans Jordan, China is not the "People's Republic". Thailand is not Siam.. The USSR is there. It's just a blast from the past.

You can also tell a lot of things by looking at Africa.

If Israel's not there and the USSR is, that would place it sometime in the 30s? My Soviet history is a bit rusty.

Danzig was still part of Poland. Lat, Lith, and Est were countries. No Czeckolovakia (sp sorry).
