  • Necks and Bodys

I think i found another guitar body to bid on...

it doesn't have a floyd rose, but i would like the neck to have locking nuts.

whats the general rule when trying to get a neck on a body whn you know they are different companys...

same scale same # of frets will work. just watch for tele or G&L type necks where the neck end is flat shaped not the standard(strat) rounded heal.

Same scale and same # of frets will not always work. Many fretboards have a different amount of overhang, so when seated completely in the neck pocket the frets will be in different places.

You want to have a locking nut on a guitar without a Floyd? Unless you're not going to lock the nut, it's a bad idea. Once you lock the nut, the strings go sharp... you'd need a Floyd with fine tuners, as the fine tuners are the key to helping you get exactly in tune.
Get a neck with a regular nut and locking tuners like Schaller or Sperzel.

i'd check the neck heel width on the neck to make sure it fits the body.... most common is 2 3/16, but some have 2 1/4 width.
