Can someone explain how guitar manufactuers use photography to duplicate quilted/woodgrain tops to reduce the cost of the instrument.I need to explain the process to a woodworker who has no idea what I'm talking about. Thanks

basically, they just take a picture of a flame top, glue it to the body, and finish over it. is this something that you're looking to do?

i would imagine the process is similar to the way pergo floors are made
      1+2 = McGuirk, 2+4 = She's hot, 6-4 = Happy McGuirk

Not something I'm looking to do,but this dude in work had no idea about an abstract method such as clearcoating over a picture . I think I'll show him some pics of Raven guitars which I think are made with this process.
