  • no clean sound

    Hey everyone,
I can't manage to actually get a clean tone out of my triaxis. I don't know why...I have a Gibson '57 classic as the neck pup in my soloist...and all the clean tones, regarless of how little gain I dial in, are slightly distorted. Even if I turn down the volume pot. What could I be doing? The clean sounds clean if I play the triaxis at low volumes, but if I turn the master up and turn the power amp up, then it gets that little grind to it. What's going on?

    Thanks,
    Nick

I suppose...although I thought Mesa only recommended the low-output preamp tube for the position that involved the effects loop. I'll have to read into it more. I know if I tell you that the tubes are new or whatnot, that you'll probably still mention it's possible to buy a bad tube, or have them go bad "prematurely" since they're fickle, and can't always be relied on to last as long as they should. Am I correct, however, in thinking that the '57 classic should be able to put out clean tones?

      Thanks,
      Nick
