  • Replacing JT580LP With Ibanez Trem

I really like the ibanez trems becuase the are heavier and in my opinion, they feel better than any other trem. I was wondering how much trouble I would have to go through to replace the trem on my DKMG with either an Ibanez Lo-Pro or and Edge Pro Trem. Is it possible? Will it be a pain in the ass? And which one would fit the best?

Im not sure about either one of those tremolos but I think youll have a tougher time with the lo-pro. But try to get some measurements of both of them. Also some side shots of them with a depth measurment would be nice. Don't forget to get the post measurments too.

You can ask some guys at the Ibanez forum for some of this info. They should be able to help you (gulp) http://www.ibanez.com/forum/

The lo pro edge will fit fine, except for one thing; it's a little longer (front to rear) than the JT580LP, so you'll need to route out the rear of the recess another 1/4". The Edge is my all time favorite trem, and I'm getting ready to do a retro on one of my Charvels, so I've checked this out recently.

Would an original Edge trem fit?

No, they are basically the same size.
