• Doug Aldrich signature model

I have a line on a Doug Aldrich signature model in psycho blue from '92. It is near mint with case for about $800, considering the exchange. Is this a fair price? What are the necks like? It's in another city here in Japan, so trying it before buying is not an option. Thanks in adavnce for your input.

Unfortunately for us, those models are even more rare over here than in Japan

If you're an Aldrich fan, or otherwise love the guitar (finish, rarity, specs, etc) then I'd say it's worth it.

If it's a USA-made model, and it's in Japan for $800 USD, it's an outright steal.

It's a USA Custom. I don't get the price either. I just love the looks of the guitar. The shops ad states it's rare. I couldn't find any information on the net.

Thanks, Newc, I will start the process to get it in the morning.

Cool score

I've seen a couple in Ishibashi's U-Box over the last year or so, but have only seen the neck of one USA model posted on here.

I don't know how many were made, but either they made less than 100 or 99% of the people who bought them have never sold them

U.S. Models?
I thought they were all Japanese made unless the one you are looking at was owned by Doug himself.

They were all Japanese made like DJM said.

Scalloped fretboard from the 12th fret up.

Nice guitars, I had one at one point.

Re: Doug Aldrich signature model

Thanks for the extra info. I glossed the page too quickly. The 'Jackson USA' was on a list with other makers on the page. They must be Aldrich's other endorsements. The head stock in the 3rd pic looks like it has the 'custom shop' logo as I recently saw on the red snake skin Jackson that just sold on eBay in the US. Can anyone confirm what the text is just past the 'n'?

The price being $800, would help explain a Japanese origin. Here are the specs in English from the page:

Body Yellow Poplar
Neck Maple Bolt On (With Special Heel Cut)
Neck Scale 25 1/2 inch, 24F
Finger board Rosewood (12F~24F Shallow Scallop)

The Small logo on the headstock says Grover Jackson, not Custom Shop.
FYI, the retail price of that model was 150,000 yen back in 90's and I have a magazine AD that shows the same model in the same color with 150,000 yen price tag.

Doug played with Lion,Bad Moon Rising,Burning Rain,Dio and now he is or will be on tour with Whitesnake.
Also I've heard he played with Tiffany too.
How cool is that!

He was also in Hurricane.

$800's still a good deal in my opinion given the rarity and features. Yeah you could buy a used 1990 USA Jackson for that price, but nothing LIKE that one. Big difference.
